Shelburne Economist, October 12, 1899 - MARRIED AT ALTON:
This week we have to chronicle the marriage of another of Shelburne's popular young business men, Mr. S. T. White, druggist, who was married to Miss Ethel M. Clark at Alton yesterday (Wednesday). The ceremony was performed by Rev. D. A. Hamilton, B.A., of Havelock, brother-in-law of the bride, assisted by Rev. Mr. McKay, of Alton, in the presence of immediate relatives of the contracting parties, at the home of the bride's father, Mr. Wm. Clark, at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The groom was supported by his brother, Mr. Jos. E. A. White, and Miss Marguerite Clark, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. The dresses of the bride and bridesmaid were of white organdie, and they carried bouquets of white roses. The bride's going-away gown was of dark blue cloth. After the dejeuner the newly married couple left on the afternoon train for Toronto and Montreal. The bride was the recipient of many handsome presents. The groom's present to the bride was a gold bracelet set with amethysts; and to the bridesmaid a gold brooch set with opals. On their return from their wedding journey, Mr. and Mrs. White will take up their residence in the house formerly occupied by Dr. Rolstin on Main street east, immediately west of the Presbyterian church. The Economist extends best wishes.
